The reason is snobbery. Too much television is considered ‘unhealthy’ – both in terms of duration and surface area it would seem. The trouble though, has been qualifying such a view with both a definition of ‘unhealthy’ and empirical proof of this ‘unhealthiness.’ So, instead everyone agrees that they know what they mean, but they cannot explain what they mean to those who don’t know, eh, what they mean.

The Wot WotsHere is another great creation from Weta Workshop (people who brought ups Lord of The Rings) it is a new animated childrens program called "The Wotwots", at first I thought “oh my god! Not another bloody TV show!”, well as it turned out Pyper, Renee and I was invited to the launch of the 'Wotwots' at the Wellington Zoo (as the show is about aliens that land at a Zoo). Launch day rolls around – the weather was grey on the verge of raining and freezing cold so absolutely perfect for a day at the zoo to watch a TV program being launched about two aliens, I was secretly hoping they would abduct me and take me back to their planet hopefully it would be warmer! We got to the zoo had a look around at the animals and made our way to the enclosure to see the launch, and I must admit I was very pleasantly surprised, the characters were very cute and warm, that caught even the parents imagination.

Are You Hands-On?
Well, these parents monitor their kids’ TV-watching and Internet use, they put restrictions on what music their kids buy, they know where their kids are after school and on weekends, and they give regular chores to their children. How about you? Warmly, Mark Brandenburg Mark Brandenburg MA, CPCC

Parental Discretion Advised
When the scene changed, and April thought it was safe for Alleke to watch again, she took her hand away. Alleke must have thought the show was still too scary because she took April's hand, put it back over her eyes, and held it there. Posted with permission from Spain Dad

Are You A Good Mentor?“Here’s your water bottle, James!” The eight-year-old snatched the bottle hard out of his mother’s hand and said, “give me that!” A chorus of nervous laughter followed from the parents nearby, including the boy’s mother. James sauntered off, without acknowledging his mother’s offering, or the presence of the other parents in the group. We were attending a youth basketball game, and the hallway outside the gym was filled with parents and revved up kids. This kind of interaction between children and their parents is not unusual today. We all see examples of kids acting more aggressively around their parents. And unfortunately, we all see examples of their parents doing little to change it.

While the rest of the country, no, the world embraces the increasing size of the flat screen TV, in the oh-so middleclass milieu of Bath, England, it has become de rigueur to own a modestly sized television set.
A new study by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse says the key to keeping your kids off of drugs is to be a “hands-on” parent. What does that mean?
Last night we were watching TV before bed, and April had Alleke on her lap. The show we were watching seemed relatively harmless until one point when the main character's skin melted off his face, and he turned into a talking meatball. I grimaced, and April put her hand over Alleke's eyes.
