Five Decisions Expectant Fathers Tend to Avoid

Expectant fathers have a lot of decisions to make when getting ready for the arrival of their first or new child. Many people create checklists to try and help them prepare, but it is impossible to make ready for every situation or need. There are many decisions during the pregnancy that dads really care about expressing an opinion but some are avoided at all costs.

Here are Five Decisions Expectant Fathers Tend to Avoid:

1. Choice of doctor or hospital - we're not the ones who need to feel comfortable being poked, probed and examined, so why should our opinion matter?

2. Room decor or bedding set - dads want kids to have cool rooms, but the only things we really care about when it comes to decor are how much it costs and the amount of work it will be for us to paint and set-up all of the furniture.

3. Formula or breastfed baby - as long as we can be involved in feeding the baby in some way, we don't really care where the milk comes from.

4. Natural or 'pain relieved' delivery - some dads may quietly think they have a strong position on this leading up to the big day; however, that quickly changes when they get in the delivery room with a screaming mom. In most cases, dads understand that they aren't the ones pushing the baby out, so they really don't have a say about epidurals or pain medications anyway.

Car Seat Safety - Your baby makes a great backseat driver

Car safety is your responsability when driving in a car with your baby, not only is there good driving practises to follow for driver responsibility there is also correct baby seat restraints and the rules around the use for optimal baby safety. For example a 3-6 month baby will still need to stay in their rear facing car capsule (or rear facing car seat that fits like a capsule). Use ‘Baby ON Board’tags on your rear window as well as window shades to keep the sun from their eyes and face.

This weeks product review is on Safe & Sound Car Seat, Pyper has just about grown out of her capsule, Im a bit sad about that, we have to buy another one, so that is more money but once again its based on safety so what can you do!

Renee’s parents brought this for us, and to be honest its a very good looking car seat.

You would have to be stark raving mad to buy this product.

Pros

* Do last for a long time if your child doesn’t get past 18 kg’s
* Sturdy big and bulky
* Its blue and if you spill things on it doesn’t get dirty as easy

Cons

* Had to pay to get the hooks put in to strap the
* Only reclines in the back facing position
* If the straps are in the hook, you have to literally put Pyper in over them like a high jump track star.
* They are expensive.
* Big and bulky
* It has a 3 point (6 straps) harness that you have to just about push into Pypers chest to get it secure!
