We also looked around for sometime before buying a highchair. Had to tick all the boxes for us, cheap, easy clean, portable, fit at the table, safe and a few others.
We ended with a The First Years (www.learningcurve.com).
Cheap, about $50. Easy clean, fits in the dishwasher.
Very portable, we have taken it to weddings, parties, holidays, even a few restaurants when we have turned up to find there were no highchairs left.
You just strap this seat to a normal chair and your set. Stuff a small cushion down each side and your 6 month old won't be sliding over or under.
When they are ready to sit at the table with the big people, just leave the try off and you have yourself a booster.
A cheaper opition.
