It's a place where dads of all stripes can come together to talk about the challenges, issues, and triumphs of being a dad. We share stories and help each other find solutions, information, and resources to help us be the best dads we can be. Meetings: Free food & beverages, and onsite child care provided with advanced RSVP. For more information or to RSVP, please contact facilitator Henry Alexander at (309)662-9453 or agency contact Mendy Smith at (309)834-5231. At meetings, dads get together, have dinner, and those that want to can share about themselves and their weeks (the week just past, and/or the week upcoming), events in their lives, questions, comments, concerns about their children/families, etc. Through the facilitator and the sponsoring organizations, attendees have a connection to the local social service agencies in McLean County. If requested, the facilitator can work with the "Parents Care + Share" Coordinator to get a referral, additional information, etc. Parents Care + Share is actually an umbrella of programs state-wide so non-local information may be available as well. The benefits of attending include a forum to meet and network with other dads, share experiences, and address dad-specific life opportunities. There is never a cost to any dad for attending, and there is not a formal process to "join". Just come check it out! Future: Questions? If you are a Father's Support Group, let DIYFather know so that we may add you to our growing list of support groups dedicated to supporting fathers. |

It is a timely reminder, that fathers need help and support sometimes too, here is a group dedicated to supporting fathers in Illinois.
