Sunday March 2nd. 10am – 3pm

Gather up your children and head down to Waitakere City’s annual Toddler Day Out and Great Parenting Fair at Waitakere Trusts Stadium on Sunday March 2nd.

More than 11,000 people attended our previous event and this, the fifth of our annual events, promises to be bigger and better than ever before. There will be something for everyone at this fun event for families.

It is also National Children’s Day on this date, and with its theme of giving our children new experiences, what better way could there be to start the year off??

The Stadium and grounds will be full of colourful stalls and a stage with non-stop family friendly performers of song, dance, plays and puppet shows. There will be free rides, vertical bungy jumps, incredible inflatables and other exciting experiences for toddlers and their brothers and sisters, face painting for children and fun, interactive learning activities. There are many give-aways and prizes for everyone.

Food such as sausage sizzles and vegetarian take-aways and a variety of beverages will be on sale at the event but it is also recommended that families bring their own picnic and make a memorable family occasion of it. There is also plenty of parking near the Stadium grounds, just follow the signs and traffic directors, or park at Central Park Drive or Te Pai Place and walk on over.

There will be a non-stop child focused stage, hosted by StarFish, who will perform, sing and dance, as will groups from many different cultural communities. There are puppet shows, jugglers, musicians and lots of spot prizes!!! We also have deaf interpreters for the day.

Parents will be taken care of as well with a special area where they can get some great parenting tips like handling the tricky moments with children, grab some advice on self care from the holistic health practitioners and even get a quick massage.

There will also be speakers giving tips on positive parenting and support strategies. These talks will be on the inside stage, and can be followed up by discussion and question opportunities in the parents area.

The Toddler Day Out and Great Parenting Fair is primarily about celebrating children under five-years-of age and promoting early childhood education and encouraging great parenting.

Waitakere City has had one of the lowest early childhood education participation rates in the Auckland Region and some of New Zealand’s highest figures of referrals to CYFS due to neglect and abuse.

Jointly sponsored by Ministry of Education, Ministry of Social Development’s SKIP project, Everyday Communities and Waitakere City Council, the Toddler Day Out is collaboratively organised by Violence Free Waitakere and ECE Waitakere. It’s an event not to be missed.

If you are looking for a great day out with the family round up the kids, pack a picnic and head to the Toddler Day Out and Great Parenting Fair

Its on Sunday March 2nd from 10am to 3pm at the Waitakere Trusts Stadium, Central Park Drive, Henderson.
