Jewellery Box

That someone special will love this hand-made jewellery box.

Materials:
Pencil box or other sturdy box
Felt
Acrylic paint
Decoupage glue or white glue
Brushes
Colored pencils
Black marker
Scissors
Shellac
Newspapers (to cover work surface)
Photocopied pictures -- we drew our own and copied them in different sizes

1. Paint the box with a base color and let dry.

2. Draw pictures on paper to decorate your box. We used a black marker so we would have bold, sharp lines. Photocopy these in different sizes. Color them with colored pencils.

3. Cut out pictures.

4. Brush backside of picture with glue. Apply to the box and smooth out any air bubbles as you go. Brush with more glue on the top and repeat with more pictures until the box is covered. Then let it dry.

5. Brush on shellac and let it dry.

6. Trace the sides of the box on felt. Cut the felt a little smaller to fit inside your box and glue in place.

Tips:
* Have your father supervise when you use scissors.

* Be careful not to get acrylic paint on your clothes -- it can stain.

* If you don't have access to a photocopier -- hand draw lots of different pictures to cover your box.
