It seems like we are frequent flyers at the doctors, and I kind of wonder if our doctor thinks we are neurotic parents (which of course we aren't, right!!!). Lately my wife thought that Pyper was looking like she might be deficient in Iron, as she was when she was younger, and so we went off to the doctor, and the main way to find out was to get blood taken.
Hmm I thought this is going to be interesting, Pyper is one of these little children like most I would say who think that at 15 months old and walking are independent from the world. Therefore getting her to have blood taken would be like trying to brush the teeth of a rattlesnake.
We took her to the laboratory and thankfully it didn't take too long. I'm sure she has ESP, because in no time she was starting to get anxious.
So the nurses took her into a small room where both Renee and I were there to help hold her. They firstly tried to find a vein in her left arm and one that was in the middle of her arm. It took them a few times to get one and basically with the help of both of us and two nurses we managed to get the needle in. I know it hurt her but in the end it needed to be done.
If you need to get a blood test done for your child make sure you and your partner go along. It really helps with the whole process. Blood tests may be uncomfortable for your little one but their health is more important so don't put them off.
