First Aid in the home checklist

OK dads, here's a little reminder about first aid gear you need to have in the house when you've got a little one. Might be useful to check the status of your first aid kit ... If you haven't got one, get one now. It's absolutely essential for when minor (or major) dramas happen with your kid.

We compiled the following checklist based on input from various health organisations including St John's:

  • Antiseptic/antibacterial cream

  • Adhesive strip dressings for small cuts/grazes

  • Liquid film dressing for hard to bandage areas

  • Waterproof island dressing for wounds that heal best in moisture

  • Stretch bandage and bandage clips or safety pins

  • Sterile non-stick pad for larger wounds

  • Strip tape

  • Skin closures

  • Burn & Sting cream

  • Barrier cream/lotion

  • Pain relief tablets or liquid (like Pamol)

  • Anti-histamines

  • Electrolyte replacement for dehydration

  • Eye wash and eye bath / lubricating eye drops

  • Triangular bandage

  • Compression bandage

  • Disposable gloves

  • Tweezers

  • Scissors

  • Ice pack

Stay healthy and safe!

I am expecting my first child

I am expecting my first child in about two weeks time or less!! I ordered a great first aid kit online from St Johns over the weekend. They seem to have the most comprehensive and well priced offers around. The link is https://ssl.stjohnvic.com.au/kits/list.jsp?type=home
