The following Media Release was sent to us by a DIYFather.com contributor, Dave Moskovitz. RELIGIOUS GROUPS TO TACKLE CHILD ABUSE Rev John McCaul, the Christian Co-Chair of the Council of Christians and Jews said, "Child abuse within our faith communities has been an unspoken serious issue for a long time, and yet these same faith communities could play a pivotal role in turning the problem around in the wider community." Harold Klug, the Jewish Co-Chair added, "A recent study by the University of Auckland showed that one in four women in New Zealand were sexually abused before the age of fifteen. It's our moral obligation as faith communities to act on these shocking statistics." The Symposium will take place on Wednesday 7 November 2007 at 7.30pm at the Loaves and Fishes Hall at the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul, at the corner of Molesworth St and Hill St, Wellington. The public are invited. -ends Trackback URL for this post:http://www.diyfather.com/trackback/223
