If you have missed out on all the crazy snowfalls this winter and your kids still want to make a snowman - check out this craft idea. This foam snowman is an easy DIY project for children and they get to practice cutting out shapes like circles, rectangles, and triangles.
Here's what you need:
1 White Foam Sheet
1 Black Foam, 2” X 4”
Black Foam Scraps
Orange Foam Scraps
Ribbon Spool or 3” Diameter Circle
Scissors
Hole Puncher
Craft Glue
Pencil
Step by step
1) Take the sheet of white foam and trace a circle at the bottom of the foam using the ribbon spool (or 3” circle ... you can use cups, plates or cans).
2) Trace another circle into the first circle about 1/2 inch from the top (you can use a bigger circle shape for this one)
3) Trace another circle into the second circle about 1/2 inch from the top. It should now be a snowman shape.
4) Cut out the snowman shape.
5) With the hole puncher, punch out about 20 circles out of black foam.
6) Glue the black circles in places of the eyes, mouth, and buttons.
7) Cut out a small triangle in the shape of a carrot.
8) Glue it in the place of the nose.
9) To make the hat - take the 2” x 4” Black Foam and fold in half lengthwise.
10) On the unfolded side, cut a rectangle out of one corner through both pieces of the foam.
12) Unfold the black foam and it should look like a hat. Glue on the hat.
