We saw a flyer at our local day-care centre that Pyper goes to that asked for any household items, you know the ones that you would have otherwise have thrown out, like boxes or drink containers – general packaging and junk – and it comes back disguised as artwork by your precious child aghhh
So we started to put drink containers, cans, little boxes and the like in there, now just a small bit of background on us, we don’t RECYCLE at all. It’s not that we don’t want to its that we don’t have that on the top of our list, or actually on our list of things to do. I noticed that by the first week of us putting anything that was food waste or paper in to plastic bags, that we in fact have a large amount of items that could be recycled. It made me wonder just how much stuff gets thrown away that could be recycled, Now Pyper is probably just seeing the bags and wondering what they are, and we are thinking that we are doing our bit for the local day-care centre, but really we should be trying to look out for the environment first and then day-care centres and the like second. But what she could also be learning from a very early age is to make sure that she looks after the environment, as they are the future and will be making decisions about our society when they get older!
It got me thinking that maybe day-care centres could trick parents into thinking that they bringing things in that they know their children will turn in to masterpieces, but really most of it really would go to the recycle dump – yeah I’m pretty fickle id buy into it, without actually knowing.
