During Movember (the month formerly known as November) the DIYFather team will be growin a Mo. That's right we are bringing the Mo back because we are passionate about men's health and the fight against prostate cancer. Why...
* Every year in New Zealand 2,656 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer and about 600 die of the disease, making prostate cancer the second largest cause of male deaths, after lung cancer.
* The average life expectancy of a man in New Zealand is 4 years less than a woman.
To sponsor our Mo please go to http://www.movember.com/nz/donate, enter our registration number which is 106223 and your credit card details. Or you can sponsor us by cheque made payable to the "Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand" clearly marking the donation as being for my Registration Number: 106223. Please mail cheques to: Movember, PO Box 87 150, Meadowbank 1742, Auckland. All donations over $5 are tax deductible.
All donations are made directly to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand who will use the funds to create awareness, increase support networks for those men who suffer from prostate cancer, fund research and scholarship programs.
For those that have supported Movember in previous years you can be very proud of the impact it has had and can check out the detail at: Fundraising Outcomes.
Movember culminates at the end of the month at the Gala Partés. These glamorous and groomed events will see Tom Selleck and Borat look-a-likes battle it out for their chance to take home the prestigious Man of Movember title. If you would like to be part of this great night you'll need to purchase a Gala Parté ticket.
Each week the DIY Father team will post progress of their Mo’s
Thanks for your support

How did it start?
The mo’ came about four years ago while Adam Garone was sitting around with his brother and some mates in an old pub in Melbourne. They were discussing the terrible 70’s decor, when they had a bit of an idea come out of it. An idea that would tap so completely into the zeitgeist of masculinity that it would earn over $810,057 dollars for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand in 2006, contribute to a global tally of over $7.5 million that same year, spread from Australia and New Zealand to be held in the US, UK, Canada and Spain within three years of its inception, become the fastest growing charity for men’s health in history - and tangibly save lives.
The idea was Movember, where participants start November clean-shaven and then grow and groom a moustache for the remainder of the month, raising money through sponsorship along the way. read more on www.getfrank.co.nz
